What is the difference between the Advanced Focus System and Rapid Focus?

The Advanced Focus System is Ledlenser's proprietary optical beam control mechanism — it allows the beam to be adjusted from a tight, long-range spot to a wide flood by moving the torch head. Rapid Focus is the one-handed implementation of this system on the H8R, allowing fast beam adjustment without removing the torch or using both hands. Together they give the H8R precise, immediate beam control suited to quickly changing environments — switching from trail navigation to close-range camp tasks without interruption.

Can I charge the H8R from a power bank?

Yes. The H8R charges via a standard Micro-USB to USB-A cable, compatible with any USB-A power source — including portable power banks, laptop USB ports, vehicle USB adaptors and wall chargers. This makes it practical for multi-day outdoor trips and remote use where mains charging is unavailable. Full charge time is 360 minutes (6 hours) from a standard USB-A source.

What does the colour filter cap set include and what is it used for?

The H8R includes a colour filter cap set as standard — physical caps that attach to the torch head to convert the white beam to red or green output. Red is the most commonly used: it preserves night vision during outdoor navigation, fishing and camping without the readjustment period required after white light exposure. Green is used for wildlife observation and certain tactical applications. The inclusion of colour filter caps as standard significantly extends the H8R's versatility across outdoor, tactical and professional applications without additional cost.

Is the H8R suitable for running?

Yes. The H8R's 158g weight, secure adjustable headband, front switch for easy mode access and rear red light for visibility to others behind make it a capable running head torch. At 600 lumens maximum output with a 150-metre beam, it delivers more than sufficient brightness for road and trail running in full darkness. What does the rear red light do?

The rear red light on the H8R provides passive visibility to others approaching from behind — making you visible to drivers, cyclists and other path users without requiring a separate rear light. The red light operates independently of the main front beam, allowing both to be used simultaneously.
